Vish Kumar was appointed as Consultant Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Surgeon at Wye Valley NHS Trust in 2021. Prior to this, he held fixed-term Consultant posts at Cambridge University Hospitals and Buckinghamshire NHS Trust since Aug 2017. He is fellowship-trained in Foot & Ankle Reconstruction. His clinical practice covers all aspects of foot and ankle surgery.

He has keen interest in medical education and surgical training. He is Examiner for University of Birmingham (UoB) Medical School. He is GMC- recognised named Clinical Supervisor (nCS) for Higher Orthopaedic Surgical Training. He is on faculty for Cambridge FRCS Orth Basic Science Revision Course.

He is acknowledged reviewer for The Bone and Joint Journal (BJJ). He has undertaken research in the field of orthopaedics in UK & Australia. He has published in respected PubMed-Indexed orthopaedic scientific journals as first author and is up-to-date with the latest evidence-based knowledge and surgical techniques.

He provides a complete adult Foot & Ankle reconstructive service, including:

Trauma reconstruction
Sports reconstruction (including ankle arthroscopy, tendon & ligament reconstruction)
Deformity correction (pes cavus, pathologic flatfoot, bunions)
Arthritis treatment (including ankle replacements and fusions)
Neuromuscular reconstruction (including tendon transfers)

He is certified Trust Appraiser of Consultants & Doctors for Revalidation at Wye Valley NHS Trust. He is GIRFT Lead for Outpatients Transformation.

He sits on Local Negotiating Committee (LNC) of British Medical Association (BMA).

He has proven track record of participation in National Audits and Quality Improvement (QI) projects including NHS England commissioned external audits.
